Troy Kane (Founder)

Troy is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor and the Founder of The Counseling Clinic. Troy's approach is grounded in a wide array of evidence-based counseling approaches, including mindfulness strategies, cognitive behavioral theory, Wilderness Therapy, and the integrative use of Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT).

Troy currently provides telehealth counseling services.

In addition to providing individual counseling, board supervision, and professional consultation, Troy is dedicated to advancing the field of mental health. With over 20 years of experience supporting people in all stages of life, Troy has developed a deep understanding of the diverse challenges individuals face. He creates a safe, healing, supportive, and goal-focused environment for everyone.

Licensed in the state of North Carolina, Troy brings warmth, insight, and decades of clinical knowledge to every individual and professional he works with.

Caroline Gregory

Caroline Gregory is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who provides individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. Her areas of work include, but are not limited to, supporting those experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, postpartum women, grief, relationship issues, communication issues, bullying, low self-esteem, self-criticism, addiction, and substance use disorders. Caroline also has experience in providing faith-integrated counseling for Christian clients.

Her theoretical approach is integrative and dynamic, based on each client’s individual needs and interests. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based approaches, Christian Counseling, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Caroline’s therapeutic style is collaborative, genuine, creative, and at times, humorous. Caroline strives to offer a warm, encouraging, and nonjudgmental space where clients can be themselves.

Patricia Talton

Patricia is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who provides individual therapy to adults. Her areas of specialty include anxiety, trauma, depression, life transitions and christian counseling. Patricia is an EMDR trained therapist and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) with her MA from Liberty University.

Patricia's theoretical approaches include, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Solution Focused Therapy and nervous system regulation technique.

clients move forward with clarity and confidence. He offers a warm, grounded presence and evidence-based care for individuals seeking efficient, meaningful relief from trauma, anxiety, and depression.

George specializes in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), with a focus on Intensive EMDR treatment. George provides personalized EMDR Intensives designed for clients who need flexibility and faster access to support. George's approach is ideal for busy parents, professionals, and anyone whose schedule makes weekly therapy overwhelming.

George believes that it may be time for a new approach to longstanding challenges, and his approach provides a new way forward. George aims to help his clients engage deeply in counseling sessions and move toward their goals on a timeline that fits their lives.

Abigail Waldrop

Abigail is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) who is committed to supporting individuals across a wide range of life circumstances and mental health concerns. She works collaboratively with clients to strengthen self-esteem, manage anxiety, and promote overall emotional well-being in a supportive and compassionate therapeutic environment.

Abigail has experience working with individuals navigating ADHD, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, trauma-related disorders (including PTSD), grief and loss, and mood disorders, including bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Her approach is client-centered and informed by evidence-based practices, with an emphasis on meeting each individual where they are and tailoring treatment to their unique needs and goals.

She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and completed her graduate education at Liberty University, graduating in May 2024. As an LCMHCA, Abigail practices under supervision and is dedicated to continued professional growth and ethical, high-quality care.

Abigail brings warmth, empathy, and a strong commitment to helping clients build insight, resilience, and meaningful change as they move toward improved mental health and well-being.

Philip Waugh

Philip is completing a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling through Northwestern University, and he is actively seeing clients under Troy's supervision.

Philip is working to obtain licensure as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in the state of North Carolina.

As a Counseling Intern, Philip is able to dedicate time and energy to a smaller number of clients, ensuring quality counseling services supported by weekly supervision from multiple skilled supervisors. His approach is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Existential Theory, Narrative Therapy, and other evidence-based practices tailored to each individual's unique needs.
